Atfirstitwastheusualcommentsabouttheirmutualinterestsandacquaintances;Greg’scateringservicewasbooming,apparently;BlaisehadwonanawardforhisexposeonsomewinningQuidditchteamthrowingmatches;andasalways,Dracopassedonthewarmestregardsfromhismother,Narcissa.Afterthat,withoutfail,wouldbetherepetitiveandunvariedline,“Workismoreofthesame,”whichtoPansy’scontinuedannoyancerevealedabsolutelynothingaboutDraco’sbusyandmysteriousprofessionallife.She’dalwayswritebackandteasehim,“You’reeitheranescortoranUnspeakable,andeitherway,I’ddieifyouwouldjustfinallykissandtell.”

Onlythisletterheldnosuchstatement.Theregularnewswasfollowedbyaplea:

“What?”Pansypracticallyshrieked.ShegrabbedherthingsandrushedtotheCheck-InwheretheattendanthadbeenspeakingwithapetiteMinistryofficial.Pansyignoredthefactthatshewasinterruptingtheirconversationandsaid,“I’msorry,somethinghascomeupandIhavetoleave.”
