Draco

Once,whenDracowassevenyearsold,whenhewassmallandscrawnyandstillhadn’tlearnedhowtousethepowersittingrightbeneathhisskin,hehadwalkedtotheedgeofhisneighbor’spondandwalkedrightalongtheedge,toesskimmingthesurfaceofthemudandmucklikeitwassomesortofgame.Hismotherhadtoldhimnottogoinitbecauseitwasdirty,andhisfathersaidthatitwasdangerous,justasderelictandinfestedastheneighbor’shousewas,butDracohadthoughtthatitwouldbefuntogotoaforbiddenplacejustonce.Anditwasfun,untilhesteppedforwardontothebankjustabittoofar,entrancedbythewaveoftheotherwisestillwaterthatwasonlythebeckoningofagrindylowandtoppledin.
